    Bolt chord between neighbouring holes

    S = PCD × sin(180° / N)
    S = 190.50 × sin(180° / 8) = 72.90 mm
    Ligament between holes = S − d = 72.90 − 19.05 = 53.85 mm
    Xk = PCD/2 × cos(θ0 + k × 360°/N), Yk = PCD/2 × sin(θ0 + k × 360°/N); straddle start θ0 = 180°/N

    The chord is what you measure with calipers between two adjacent hole centres. The full 24-inch and DN600 tables with PN40 are on the pipe flange gasket template PDF page, and every row opens straight in the generator.

    FAQ

    Questions from the shop floor

    Short, specific answers. Open a question to read it.

    What does the free version export?

    Two files, both free with no sign-up: a PROOF PNG up to 1000 px wide with a diagonal watermark and a "PROOF ONLY — NOT 1:1 SCALE" banner, and a check-sheet TXT with every parameter, the bolt chord, the webs and the polar and X/Y position of each hole. Neither is a cutting file; the 1:1 DXF, kerf SVG, STL and PDF are in the Pro pack.

    Is the DXF really 1:1, and in which units?

    Yes. The DXF is AutoCAD R12 ASCII drawn at full size in millimetres ($INSUNITS 4), or in inches ($INSUNITS 1) when you switch the studio to inches. Geometry is nominal: holes, bores and the outline are exactly the numbers on screen. The kerf offset is written as a note on the DIMENSIONS layer and applied only in the SVG.

    Which programs open the DXF, SVG and STL files?

    The R12 DXF opens in AutoCAD, LibreCAD, Fusion 360, LightBurn, RDWorks and most waterjet CAM. The SVG has width and height in mm (or in), so LightBurn, Cricut Design Space and Inkscape import it at true size. The binary STL files slice in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer and Cura.

    What is kerf offset and which value should I enter?

    Kerf is the width of material the beam or blade removes. Enter half of it: the SVG moves the outer path out and every hole in by that amount, so the part measures true. Start at 0.08–0.12 mm for a CO2 laser on NBR or silicone, 0.00 for a Cricut knife and 0.40–0.55 mm for an abrasive waterjet. PTFE, FKM, TPU and copper never go in a CO2 laser.

    How do I trace an old gasket from a photo?

    Switch to Photo Tracer, lay the gasket flat on a plain contrasting surface with a ruler beside it, and shoot straight down. Upload the PNG, JPG or WebP (up to 10 MB), drag the two blue handles onto two ruler marks, type the distance and press Calibrate. The outline and holes appear in millimetres, ready to export.

    How accurate is photo tracing?

    With a square-on photo, the gasket flat and a ruler in the frame, expect about ±0.5 mm on a 100–200 mm part; bolt holes are snapped to true circles by a least-squares fit, so their centres are usually better than the outline. The tracer does no perspective correction, so measure critical hole spacings with calipers and type them into the parametric builder if they matter.

    What does the minimum web check mean?

    The web is the material left between a hole and the nearest edge — the bore, the outer edge or the next hole. The studio computes every web and flags the thinnest one in red with THIN WARNING when it is under 2.5 mm, because a narrow web tears during cutting and blows out first under bolt load.

    How is bolt chord spacing calculated?

    For N holes on a pitch circle diameter PCD, the straight distance between neighbouring hole centres is S = PCD × sin(180° / N). For the ASME 4-inch Class 150 flange that is 190.50 × sin(22.5°) = 72.90 mm. Subtract the hole diameter to get the ligament between holes: 72.90 − 19.05 = 53.85 mm.

    Which flange standards are built in?

    ASME B16.5 Class 150 and 300 from NPS 1/2 to 24 with the B16.21 full-face gasket ID, and EN 1092-1 PN10, PN16 and PN40 from DN15 to DN600 with the EN 1514-1 gasket ID. Pick system, size and rating and the studio fills OD, ID, PCD, bolt count and hole diameter with the first hole straddling the centrelines.

    Will a 3D printed TPU gasket seal?

    For water, air, grease and oil up to about 80 °C, yes — print TPU 95A at 100 % infill and turn on the 0.3 mm sealing bead so the clamp load concentrates on a line. It is not for exhaust, cylinder heads or fuel immersion; for those cut aramid fibre, FKM or copper, or cast high-temperature RTV silicone in the generated mold.

    How do I print the 1:1 template at the right scale?

    Print the PDF at 100 % or "Actual size", never "Fit to page". Measure the 50.0 mm and 2.00 in squares on page 1 with a ruler or calipers before you cut anything. Large gaskets are split into Letter or A4 tiles with a 10 mm overlap and alignment targets; tape the tiles together on the targets.

    Is my photo uploaded or stored?

    No. The photo is decoded and traced inside your browser and never leaves the device. When you buy and export a Pro file, only the traced outline in millimetres and the hole list are sent to build the file in memory; nothing is saved on our side.
